Sunshine After The Rain

Yifan's one happy fella today. Not only did he get to eat his favorite food at Uncle Lee's but we discovered yet another newly-opened Asian supermarket that has the best variety of the freshest seafood in the area!

And because it's such a nice day, we took a slight detour and looked at some houses. I should probably refer to them as mansions instead, seeing as each house is HUGE, complete with its own grounds.

Finding a good asian supermarket here is oftentimes hit-and-miss. No wonder Yifan was skeptical in the beginning.

By his definition, a supermarket is a good supermarket if, and only if, it has fresh seafood. His worries were unfounded.

No prizes for guessing if we'd be back again!!

After the bad storms we'd been having the past few days, how could I see this, and not take a picture?

Desperately in need of something "cooling", I made White Fungus dessert.

Taking A Big Bite Out of the Apple

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. In my case, a trip to the Big Apple promises fun and excitement.... and we all know being happy and falling sick just don't go together.

busy is an understatement

Quite a bit has been going on since I last blogged. Last Sunday, we met up with some fellow Lexus car- owners in Grapevine.

Yesterday, we were at the Toyota dealership checking out cars with Jack. If this is not the season for looking at/buying cars, I don't know what it is.

We also engaged in a "little golf" while we were at the Lexus dealership. Literally.

And getting primped by professionals (lancome professionals, that is) after that?? Life can't get any better than this.

To cap it all off, we ( us, and zack and friends) went dinner and drinking in Addison after that.. although I have to say " yucks, I totally abhor alcohol"! By the time we got home, it was 2am!!

We finally realised we're no longer the young and energetic people we were 5 years ago. Then, going clubbing on weeknights and waking up early to go to work the next day was nothing out of the ordinary. Now, we get so absolutely drained by one night of merry-making, that it's not even funny.

Still, we were at the mall today (again) because we had to get an air purifier for our house. Now that spring has just begun, the air is heavy with pollen and poor Yifan is battling with allergies. :-(

Hopefully this will help him.

We discovered a new eating place. New San Dor has beaten 369 BBQ and become my favorite chinese restaurant.

St Patrick's Day

Just read:

****************************************

Happy St Paddy's Day!!

We missed the parade! Oh well, at least we still had fun.
Prerequisites of the day - GREEN clothing and ice cold (green) beer.

Everyone was dressed for the occasion, some more so than others.

Even these 2 doggies joined in the celebration!

People were dancing...

...and revealing a lil too much

Bud time!

Finally, it was time to leave.

Almond Jelly

You know how you associate certain foods with specific events that happened in your life?
Well, I thought since it's not going to be anytime soon that I'll get to attend a wedding dinner, I could make the 9th course-- the dessert-- myself.

It used to be rather predictable what the last dish would be-- it's either orh nee or almond jelly. These days, restaurants are coming up with more fanciful and elaborate-looking sweets, that it is anyone's guess what the last course would be. Out of sentimental reasons, I decided to make almond jelly... from scratch.

Almond jelly complete with canned lychees. I know the dish typically comes with longans, but Yifan insisted on lychees, so lychees it is.
