Into The New Year

What better way to end 2008 than to have home-cooked curry chicken...

... To be able to start 2009 with some roti prata and leftover curry is just too good to be true. And yet, that's what we are gonna have for breakfast tomorrow. I can't wait for the new year to begin!

All I Want For Christmas..

".... is my two front teeth. And my wish came true! Well, only partially, because the left tooth is out, while the right one is still a mere whitish bit on my gum." -- skylar

Some recent photos:

a) Christmas party in Durant

b)Christmas at Watters

c) Christmas Party at Jason's place

d) Christmas party at Alina's place ( no pics to show, though)

And finally, just for laughs.

An Update

Apart from the Chwee Kueh post, I haven't blogged in quite a while cos I've been really busy for a number of reasons. For one, we just moved ( actually, it's been 2 weeks now, but we only got our internet connection on christmas eve), and there's lots of unpacking and cleaning up to do. And with the festive season going on, there were a couple of christmas parties to attend. And in between swiffer-jetting my floors and stuffing my face with turkey and lasagna, we had to go furniture shopping. I am sick of having to stand and eat dinner at the kitchen island. :-(

Ooh, and if you had been wondering what happened to my blog the past week, speisaal.com has ceased to exist( the yearly subscriptions were getting a lil too much), and I now have to blog directly on blogger. So despite blogging for the past 4 years, I am effectively reduced to a newbie and I am now learning and exploring blogspot from scratch(well, almost).

Here's us in our neighbourhood.

p.s. i am still figuring out the best way to post up pics here, so this is a "test" of sorts.

It's A Great Day

It's Yifan's birthday today, so Happy Birthday! *hugs and kisses* Unfortunately, he's really busy with work, so no extravagant celebrations for the day, probably just a simple dinner somewhere nice. I did, however, get him a nice little gift-- my favorite Bvlgari Aqua Marine-- and then there's the BIG present:

Our first ( okay, second) home! right here in USA!! We had all the papers settled just this morning, and picked up the keys at noon. Woohoo!

p.s. skylar's gonna have teeth soon! i just saw 2 little white patches peeking through his upper gum, and his lower gum looks sore too! no wonder he's been more grouchy than usual. my baby is no more a "baby".

Thanksgiving 08

We were invited to Alina's place for Thanksgiving dinner this year, and boy, is she a good cook! On the menu was fried beehoon ( fabulous!), baked chicken ( also delicious), salad prepared by her neighbour, Bianca, and little pillsbury rolls stuffed with tiny sausages. Then, there was dessert-- pandan cheesecake with mixed fruits in them, and Bianca brought along a home-made Brazilian coconut cake. I felt embarrassed that our contribution was 2 tubs of ice-cream.

Alina was so thoughtful-- she brought out Brandon's exersaucer so Skylar could play while we adults ate.

That night on our way home, we drove by Best Buy just to check out if there were people in line for the doorbusters on Black Friday.

Looks like everyone's hit by the economic downturn this year. Granted, it was just slightly after ten when we took this picture. Perhaps everyone was still finishing up their turkey dinner. I still remember being heavily pregnant and lining up in the cold for hours last year for bargains on the GPS. Brrr!

Rise and shine to Black Friday! What else is there to do besides shop your heart out? But first, we took some pictures at the park at Bella Vida. After all, the vibrant red and orange leaves only stay for so long, you know!
