Sleep- Deprived
This week has been really difficult for all of us. Skylar hasn’t been sleeping well at night, and naps so little in the day, I am exhausted. I try to be strong, and tell myself a million times a day that, one day (hopefully soon), he will sleep through the night, and until that day comes, I just have to grin and bear it. Alas, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. There is only so much my body can take before it starts to break down.

Summer Balloon Classic 2009
I can’t believe we drove nearly an hour, paid $10 for parking, and stood outdoors in the 100F heat to catch an air show that wasn’t even that great. Okay, we both liked the last performance by the 75-year old pilot, but still.
Oh, and this was supposed to be DFW Summer Classic Balloon Festival. Just where were the hot-air balloons?
His Very Own Table
Skylar is always restless when we go out for meals, so some weeks back, we bought a little table for him, hoping he can practise his ‘table etiquette’ at home.
Our efforts have yet to pay off, but I am not giving up.

Road Trip To Houston Continued
Dinner in Chinatown- Sinh Sinh Restaurant
I consider myself pretty adventurous with food, and am usually game to try out new restaurants and different cuisines ( except Mediterranean food, but that’s another story). But I just had to eat at Sinh Sinh while we were in Houston, because… … I LOVE THEIR CHOY SUM! In fact, ever since we first ordered that dish, the mere mention of Houston Chinatown, and the first thing that pops into my head is that big plate of luscious, dark leafy greens.
Hilton Beckons
I <3 Priceline!
Yifan had to work the Monday and Tuesday, so Skylar and I had to find our own entertainment, which wasn’t a problem, because not only is the hotel just a block away from the Galleria, but the hotel lobby itself has all that Skylar needed to have his fun—big, open spaces to run around, cushy chairs to climb up and down, and of course, decorative “balls” that he absolutely loves.

On the drive back to Dallas, we stopped by Chick-fil-A to grab a bite, and Skylar got to dine with a cow.
Road Trip To Houston
Last Sunday morning, we took yet another road trip down to Houston. It was a really last-minute thing (Yifan only confirmed it the Friday before), but luckily I managed to get us accommodations fairly easily.
I had read about the Children’s Museum of Houston on our last trip to Houston, but we didn’t have time to visit it then, so this time around, we just had to go.
all set for the 4-hour drive
1st stop—gas station just down the street from our house ( i wish that was what we paid for our gas)
Skylar was really good on the drive down to Houston. He slept quite a bit, and self-entertained the times he was awake. I wish I could say the same about the drive back on Tuesday. :-p I guess we just can’t have it all.
Lunch at Baja Fresh
One of the better meals we’ve had in a long time. Not only because the food was reasonably-priced and good-tasting, but also because Skylar was very cooperative—he ate well, and behaved himself throughout the entire meal.
Children’s Museum of Houston
One of the things I really liked at the Museum was the specially designated area they have for babies and toddlers.

a make-believe diner
doing his grocery shopping
a bank for the kiddos operated by the kiddos
polling station
After nearly 3 hours at the museum, it was time to go get dinner at Chinatown.
We hadn’t even travelled a mile, and Skylar had already knocked out in his car seat.
Whoops! Midnight now. Got to go. More pictures and snippets of the trip in another post.
