Amidst all the gloom, here is something that will, hopefully, put a smile back on everyone’s faces.
p.s. Darn! The grass needs mowing again!

April seems to be the month of birthday parties. First, there was a mini celebration for Joey at our usual Friday dinner. Then, there was Caitlin’s birthday party at Gymboree. Two Saturdays ago, I attended a new friend’s party for her little girl, and this past Saturday, we went to another party for a two-year-old.

This was taken back in Feb when Skylar had just learnt how to stand from a sitting position.
Gee! It felt like a million years ago.
This past Sunday, we visited the flea market in McKinney, touted to be the largest flea market in North Texas. Hmm… not quite what we expected when we got there. For one, it was not that big. But I think what put me off was junk (and I mean utter junk) being passed off as “treasures”. Like really, really old toys that I wouldn’t even want Skylar getting close to, let alone play with. Eeewww!
It was a much smaller- scale Chatuchat Market, minus the tourists and good food. Sure, there was food at the McKinney flea market, but it was mostly overpriced and bad-tasting burger and fries. And the deals that day? Other than toys from eons ago, there were stalls selling children’s ( little girls’) clothes, handmade products like goat’s milk soap, cabinet hardware etc etc. We came across a stall selling little fairy costumes, complete with fairy wands and wings, and I wished I had a daughter.
Probably the most sellable “product” of the day—puppies. Kids were just hugging young pups to their chests, smiles on their faces, while their parents were pulling out their wallets.
