When Sleep Becomes A Luxury

Those four weeks with my parents flew by in no time. Ever since they left on Sunday, Yifan and I have been really really busy with Skylar. To say that things are bad is an understatement.

For one, Skylar hardly ever sleeps. Not at night, and not much in the day too. He cries and screams a lot, even when it is not near feeding time, and wants to be carried all the time. Needless to say, I am exhausted, and am on the verge of falling really sick. I had a terrible headache yesterday ( and I hardly ever get headaches) that Yifan had to sleep with Skylar in the living room, so I could get more rest.

The baby has been a lot more restless and fussy too, and I suspect he may have colic. He screams his head off at night, and nothing we do can pacify him. Then there is also the problem of gas. He spits up every now and then, and on a couple of occasions, even vomited a little. The doctor thinks he is having indigestion, and hopefully the Mylicon Drops will help him.

It is tough. We feel helpless when he cries, but the minute we see him smile, we know that everything we are going through right now is worth it. The next few months are going to be trying, but I tell myself that things will get better. It has to. Right?

Oh, and yesterday was the start of many " First" for Skylar -- he finally has tears!!

Current Mood: determined
