It's exactly 3 yrs ago on this very day that yifan called me from wisconsin. And his excuse? He called to wish me Happy CNY! How lame, but I fell for it..
It took him almost half a year to muster enough courage to call me after he left for the US. :-)
But I must say he has been on the express lane ever since-- 3 years after the day that he called me while I was at lunch at OUB, we are now married for 2 years ( come Mar 14, it'll be 2 lah), back to the US, and contemplating starting a family.. okay, okay, I am just kidding on that last bit. Raising a child at this point in time is simply not possible, given our lack of mental preparation, and all. We still want to enjoy life and luxuriate in each other's company, mabbe revisit Europe and relive the wonderful memories.
If I have to describe our relationship over the past years in ice-cream flavor language, I would say it's both Rocky Road, and Neapolitan. Rocky Road becos we, as two distinct individuals, have learnt and will continue to learn to live with each other's differences, and appreciate the good in the other. It's not an easy task, but who says good things come easy. Neapolitan becos in marriage, and life, for that matter, there is always something good together with something not so good.. You just learn to eat chocolate with strawberry ice-cream. Why dun I just buy chocolate then? Becos its the strawberry ice-cream that makes me realise how much I love chocolate.
