Northpark Center

Northpark Center has got to be the most high-end mall in the north Texas region. Just look at this car, Aston Martin DB9, that was valet-parked ( valet service courtesy of Tiffany & Co.)

More evidence that this mall caters to the rich:

Porsche even has its car, the Cayman, proudly displayed in the foyer ( obviously trying to entice shoppers into purchasing one).

As if it weren't obvious enough that the mall was designed to attract the rich folks, everywhere you turned, there was either an LV or Gucci handbag on the arm of an affluent lady.

I should probably first explain that shopping malls here are categorised like residential areas (think district 10 vs Toa Payoh for instance) with some malls catering to the masses, and other malls that are primarily for the rich. Class distinction is very much alive and kickin' here. Seldom do you see poor people in high-end malls such as Northpark, and the converse is true. Of course, when saying this, I am basing my opinion on the type of cars I see at the parking spaces in the mall, as well as the shoppers' outward appearances. Yifan saw a guy with Prada shoes.

As for the both of us, we were just there to look-see a bit, and check out a new mall. Naturally we left empty-handed (hahah!) but I did get to try on a couple of pairs of expensive shoes. Salvatore Ferragamos and Manolo Blahniks were displayed out in the open. I figured there's no better time than now to slip them on. After all, what are the chances that I would be able to try on a US$500+ pair of shoes without having the salesgirl hovering over my shoulder?
