Rejuvenated

We went spa-ing!

spacoll12jul09

The place is HUGE! There are 9 different sauna rooms( my fav is the Ice Room) and 5 spa pools in the women’s spa ( not sure how many there are in the men’s area), a kid’s play room, a movie theatre, a karaoke room, a food court …

It was a little daunting at first, not knowing where and how to start since almost everything there is in Korean. But once I got the hang of it, it became fun… that is, until it was time for me to use the spa, and I started to get a little nervous.

SPA= Being Fully Undressed!

Granted, the men have their own private spa pools, away from their women’s, but still… you had to undress in the locker room, walk into the women-exclusive spa area, take a shower, and then (quickly) get into the pool.

I am just glad that there wasn’t much of a crowd yesterday. In fact, the pools were pretty unoccupied even though there were many people at the saunas. I suspect most of the patrons decided against stripping naked. Anyway, back to my spa experience. You know, part of the thing about being naked in an environment outside of your house is the concern that you have the worst body out of everyone there. Imagine my relief when the first people I saw were 2 very big ladies proudly relaxing in one of the pools :-)

But I draw the line at sharing the same pool with other naked women when there are other unoccupied pools available ( even though it meant I had to choose between a 63F and a 106F pool instead of the more comfortable 100F one the women were in).

I finished my day with a quick shower, toweled dry, and hurriedly got dressed in the locker room, and emerged pink and radiant. Not from embarrassment, mind you. It was hot, and I was perspiring.

In case anyone is wondering, the Korean women are so accustomed to this, they parade around naked like they are in the privacy of their own homes. Incidentally, the Caucasian women were the shy ones. They covered as best they could, going to the toilets to change clothes. Hehe.

And all this time Yifan and I were sauna-ing and spa-ing ( we took turns), Skylar was busily entertaining himself, walking up and down the hallways, climbing on couches etc. He, too, had fun since the entire place was like a huge playground for him.
