New York Part One

We've always encountered problems each time we travel by air. This time was no exception. We OVERSLEPT!!! It was a 7am flight, and we only woke up at 5.20am ( it takes close to an hour just to get to the airport). Thank heavens we made it, but our luck with the "Travel God" ran out towards the end of the trip. More of that later.

The best airport to fly into is Newark International, as we soon discovered. I did my homework beforehand and learnt that it takes just half an hour to get into Manhattan from the airport.

airtrain connection to NJ Transit

Try as I may, I couldn't stop smiling. After all, I was back in Manhattan.

First stop: B & H Photos
I prefer to refer to it as guys' version of Sephora.

40 minutes later, a very happy Yifan emerged.

One of the things I love about Manhattan is that there is no such thing as a walk in vain. There is something interesting 'round every corner. So even when I led us to the opposite direction when we were making our way to the hotel ( insufficient sleep from the night before and you get a zombie-d sharon), we found pretty stores and restaurants such as this.

And of course, since the hotel is right next to Times Square, we saw him-- The Naked Cowboy.

We wanted to re-visit all the old places we used to hang out. This was one of them- Sapporo restaurant on 49th and 7th Ave.

showing off my well-planned itinerary

There were so many places I wanted to go, so much I wanted to see that at the end of the day, both of us were completely drained. We walked so much, our legs felt like they were going to crumble!

But until then, we had to go on.

This was so unbelievably cute!

MOMA, or the Museum of Modern Art

I had found out that entry to MOMA is free every Friday afternoon, courtesy of Target, but the line to the museum looked more like a line for some rock concert.

The Guggenheim

Grand Central Station

Times Square

Korean BBQ Dinner in K-town

Serendipity-- the art of making happy discoveries, or finding the unexpectedly pleasant by chance or sagacity

The Frozen Hot Chocolate is a must-try!!
