balloons

the weather was unbearably hot yesterday afternoon when we were in Plano for the hot air balloon fest. so hot that i nearly blacked out. no kidding! i thought i might collapse before we found a shady place to rest a bit.

this may sound ironic, coming from a girl who grew up in tropical singapore, but the temperature was at least 36 deg C, and the black t-shirt i wore didnt help either. i have never in my entire life suffered from heatstroke or anything like it, so what happened scared me. the feeling was like i had just run 10km without prior warm-up or without regular exercise before the run. i felt weak, i felt faint, and i knew that i would collapse on the ground if i didnt sit down real soon.

the rest of the evening went well. thankfully. we saw around 90 balloons. my favourites were Miss Daisy and the Cow. apparently, they were also the crowd favourites. Miss Daisy, as you may have guessed, is a balloon in the shape of a sunflower. and the cow, well, it's a huge cow that required about 3 dozen people to get the balloon up.

The night ended with a fireworks display. after that, it was another long walk back to the carpark, and late dinner at IHOP.... with Allan. yes, he joined us in the later part of the evening, for the balloon glow. oh well, at least he wasnt with us for the entire day.

i'll post pics up asap, ie after yifan is done with processing them.
