my left elbow has been aching since last night. it's like i overstrained my arm carrying heavy stuff (which i dun think i did), and the vein is showing now. no pain, but it's affecting my whole arm, from above the elbow all the way down to the fingers that sometimes my fingers feel cold.

i think i am going to start reading chinese newspapers -- the Dallas Chinese News. it is going to be tough, since i have never once read a full piece of news in chinese before, other than those " jian bao" that i had to do in school. and that was years ago. even tougher now, cos newspapers and whatever chinese words here are written in the traditional chinese characters. boy, is this going to be so much fun ! we have never subscribed to any kind of newspapers since arriving in the US, and we read online instead. so i was a little surprised to learn that the Dallas Chinese News was kinda like The Straits Times. it had advertisements of handphones, which is uncommon here, becos people here are not too caught up with the latest handphones and gadgetry. the papers also had articles or short stories that reminded me of the " xing qi wu zhou bao" that i used to read in secondary school. one problem though-- i felt the papers were too disorganised, no proper grouping of subjects. there were short stories with drawings done by kids all put together on the same page. then there was a section on the activities held at the Chinese Community Centre. messy !!

I saw an ad for a position in a bank in the Dallas region. might send in my resume later. i've said before that things are relatively cheaper here than in New England, but i foresee that all that savings will be going into paying bills here. i received my electricity bill yesterday, and believe it or not, it's USD 30 for just 8 days !!!!! i nearly freaked out. and that was before we even had the internet and computer connected. and satellite tv had just started a few days. i am guessing that it's going to be USD 120 per month with all that. that's a signal for us to move out of this place. it's ridiculous.
